W.Va. couple arrested after boy's funeral in Ky.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A West Virginia woman and her boyfriend have been arrested in Kentucky on neglect charges stemming from the death of her grandson.

West Virginia State Police Sgt. Christopher Wiles says Kentucky State Police arrested 45-year-old Pearl Christian and 38-year-old Byron Morrison on Saturday following the boy's funeral in Raceland, Ky.

Christian's 2-year-old grandson, Chevy Virgil Waughtel, died Jan. 15 after a stove fell over and pinned him. Police say the boy had climbed atop the stove.

Wiles tells the Charleston Daily Mail (http://bit.ly/WEnIyl ) that Christian and Morrison were asleep when the incident occurred at Christian's home in Branchland.

Both are charged with child neglect resulting in death. They are being held at the Greenup County Detention Center in Kentucky pending extradition.
