Ex-W.Va. officer arrested in home invasion

SMITHERS, W.Va. (AP) — A former Glasgow police officer is accused of impersonating a West Virginia State Police trooper during a home invasion.

Authorities say 43-year-old Donald Scott Wills of Smithers was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree robbery.

Smithers Police Chief Gerald Park tells The Charleston Gazette (bit.ly/PUZyO4) Wills and another man entered a home wearing state police jackets and carrying fake badges and non-working handguns, ordered the homeowners to the ground and tied them up as they looked from drugs and cash. Police were called because of the commotion, but Parker says the men escaped as police arrived.

Police continue to look for the unnamed accomplice.

Wills was fired as an officer in April after allegedly buying drugs from a confidential informant. He was indicted on a drug charge in September.
