CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The Governor's Natural Gas Vehicle Task Force says the price of the fuel is making a shift from gasoline to natural gas increasingly enticing for West Virginia.
The price of natural gas is at $1.85 a gallon, about one-half the price of gasoline.
The Task Force is looking at ways to expand the infrastructure for natural gas fueling in the state. West Virginia had compressed natural gas filing centers in the 1990s but they failed to catch on with consumers.
The Charleston Gazette (http://bit.ly/RMiPSD) says the group met Thursday and the focus was on the mechanics of making the fuel switch. They discussed tax incentives to encourage private businesses and consumers to make the switch.
The task force submits its findings to the governor and Legislature in January.
