Police seek man who kept test drive cars

BECKLEY — Police are looking for a Lewisburg man wanted for grand larceny after failing to return cars he test drove from two different area pre-owned dealerships, Beckley Police Chief Detective Gant Montgomery said.

Taylor Douglas Richmond, 23, is thought to be currently driving a black 2002 GMC Yukon Denali, which he allegedly took for a test drive Tuesday from Wobo Motors in Oak Hill

Friday, Richmond took a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta for a test drive from Lilly Auto Sales, located along Eisenhower Drive, Beckley, Montgomery added.

Montgomery said Richmond provided the dealerships with his own driver’s license and information, left the car lot to test drive the vehicle and approximately one hour later a dealership employee saw Richmond driving by the business with another person in the Jetta. Authorities recovered the Jetta on Sunday at about 10:30 p.m. in the Fayetteville area.

Richmond is described as a white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 160 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Montgomery says police think Richmond is still in the area and a warrant for his arrest has been issued. Oak Hill police are also involved with the investigation. Richmond does have a prior arrest record from the Lewisburg Police Department, Montgomery said.

Anyone with information about the incidents or the whereabouts of Richmond and the Yukon Denali are asked to notify any law enforcement agency or Crime Stoppers at 304-255-STOP.
