W.Va. cheerleading coach charged with sexual abuse

MANNINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — State Police have charged the freshman cheerleading coach at North Marion High School with sexually abusing a 16-year-old boy at her home in Mannington.

Sgt. Adam Scott tells WBOY (http://bit.ly/SgpvJX) that 32-year-old Amanda Barker was charged Tuesday with three counts of sexual abuse by a person in a position of trust.

It was not immediately clear when the abuse occurred or how it came to the attention of police.

A magistrate court clerk says Barker appeared Tuesday without an attorney but said she would hire one.

Barker was then released on $15,000 bond.

Directory assistance had a listing for Amanda Barker, but a woman who answered the phone said no one by that name lives there.

Marion County Superintendent of Schools Gary Price didn't immediately return messages about the case.
