W.Va. cheerleader coach facing sex charge fired

FAIRMONT, W.Va. (AP) — The Marion County Board of Education has fired a freshman cheerleader coach who's accused of sexually abusing a 16-year-old male student.

Amanda Jo Barker also is barred from attending future high school events.

The Times West-Virginian (http://bit.ly/nET7vY ) reports that the school board unanimously voted Monday to fire Barker from her cheerleading job at North Marion High School.

West Virginia State Police arrested the 31-year-old Barker on Oct. 23 on three counts of sexual abuse by a person in a position of trust.
