3 charged in W.Va. school bus sex abuse incidents

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Three Kanawha County students face sexual abuse charges stemming from separate incidents on a school bus.

Kanawha County sheriff's Lt. Sean Crosier tells media outlets that 18-year-old Matthew Cavalier and a 16-year-old boy are accused of fondling a 13-year-old girl. A 12-year-old boy is accused of exposing his genitals and trying to force sexual contact with another 12-year-old boy.

Crozier says police arrested the students Thursday.

Cavalier and the 16-year-old are students at Herbert Hoover High School. The 12-year-old boy and the girl are students at Elkview Middle School.

The incidents allegedly occurred on Aug. 28 and Aug. 29.

Kanawha County Schools transportation executive director George Beckett says the bus driver was not aware of the incidents.
