— — Mr. and Mrs. John L. File of Beckley are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Haley Broyles to Benjamin Paul Cripps, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Flynn of West Warwick, R. I., and Mr. Paul Cripps of Weymouth, Mass.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. H. File Jr of Beckley and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Branch and Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Dalton Jr of Princeton.

Haley is a 2007 graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Arts degree in international studies and French and a 2011 graduate of Vanderbilt University with a Master of Education degree in higher education administration. She is employed at Virginia Tech as an assistant director of admissions.

Ben is a 2001 graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in hospitality and tourism management, and a 2009 graduate of Virginia Tech with Bachelor of Arts degree in history. He served in the U. S. Army in Afghanistan and Iraq and is employed with a contractor for the Department of State in Kabul, Afghanistan.

An open church wedding will be held at First Christian Church in Beckley on Aug. 18.
