Va police shooting suspect says God made him do it

DINWIDDIE, Va. (AP) — Court papers show the man charged in the shooting death of a Virginia state trooper told investigators God made him do it.

According to media reports, Russell E. Brown also said one of the agents interviewing him would be the next to die.

Those details were included in an affidavit used to search Brown's Chesterfield County apartment last week. Police wrote in the affidavit that Brown had called his grandmother several times in the weeks leading up to the killing to talk about the Bible, which was uncharacteristic of him.

The 28-year-old Brown is charged with capital murder in last Thursday's shooting death of Master Trooper Junius A. Walker in Dinwiddie County. He also faces two firearms counts and an attempted capital murder charge for allegedly shooting at another trooper.
