Bomb-making ingredients found in Va student's home

LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) — Lynchburg police say bomb-making ingredients have been found in the home of a student accused of bringing a chemical bomb to a school.

Capt. Ruan Zuidema tells The News & Advance (http://bit.ly/Rz5IYo ) that items found by investigators are similar in nature to the bomb that was brought to the Rivermont School last week. He declined to provide details.

Police have said the 14-year-old student brought the bomb to the school in his backpack. Staff became aware of the threat and took the bomb outside. State police took the bomb to a secure location away from the school and defused it.

Zuidema says the student has been charged with felony possession or manufacture of an explosive device.

No one was injured in the incident.
