MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia University President James Clements is forming a task force to study tobacco use at the Morgantown school.
The university has had a smoke-free policy for its buildings and vehicles since 1990 and the study is expected to cover smoking on university grounds.
Clements says the review could take up to a year to complete.
Clements discussed the task force at last week’s WVU Board of Governor’s meeting. Clements says the task force will be comprised of faculty, staff and students.
Meanwhile, a green line designating a 50-foot, smoke-free zone around the university’s health sciences building will be repainted.
The line was painted four years ago, but has gradually worn out. Smokers must stand outside the line if they wish to smoke.
