Buyers gobble up Blenko decanters
MILTON, W.Va. (AP) — It was a quick sellout for a special edition decanter offered by Blenko Glass in celebration of West Virginia Day.
The glass company sold 146 pieces for $146 each on Saturday in commemoration of the state’s 146th birthday.
Some people waited in line for up to 26 hours for the chance to buy them. David Gardner of Dunbar showed up at the Milton shop at 6:40 a.m. Saturday and came away with the last piece sold.
The 16-inch decanter in the color seabreeze was inspired by the state’s lakes and rivers. It was designed by Arlon Bayliss, an independent designer who has made three West Virginia Day pieces for Blenko.
