BLUEFIELD —
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The state Supreme Court has suspended the license of a lawyer accused of beating a client with a baseball bat.
The court also ordered a trustee appointed to inventory Joshua Robinson’s files to protect his clients’ interests.
Robinson was being held Tuesday at the South Central Regional Jail on charges he embezzled more than $1,000 from David Lee Gump II. He also is charged with malicious wounding after Gump was beaten with a baseball bat.
Gump told police he went to Robinson’s house in December to ask about money missing from his grandfather’s estate. Police initially charged Gump with burglary and battery, but those charges were later dismissed.
Robinson, who now faces an obstruction of justice charge, has denied all charges.
His bail is set at $50,000.
