RUN/WALKS

CHARLESTON — The 5K race in the Charleston Distance Run takes place at 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 1. Registration fee is $30 until 9 p.m. Aug. 31, when the fee increases to $40. There will also be 5K and 10K walks, a 15-mile relay and a 15-mile distance run. For more information and online registration, visit www. charlestondistancerun. com.

BLUEFIELD, Va. — Bluefield College will host its Fifth Annual Jason Elswick Memorial Scholarship Challenge, Saturday, Sept. 15, beginning at the Dome Gymnasium. It benefits a scholarship honoring Elswick, a Bluefield College math education major who died in a car accident. Registration starts at 7:30 p.m. in the gym parking lot, and this year’s 5K Run and Walk begins at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $20 before August 31 and $25 after August 31. BLUEFIELD — The annual Brian Delp 5K Memorial Run & 1 Mile Fun Walk will take place at Bluefield State College on Tuesday, Sept. 25, with registration at 4 p.m. and the race start at 6:30 p.m. Money raised will benefit the Humanitarian Athletic Award Scholarship at BSC in memory of the late Brian Delp, BSC student-athlete who lost his life assisting a stranded motorist. Registration for the 5K run is $15 ($20 after Sept. 18). Registration is $10 for the 1-mile fun run. For information, contact Vonda Wilson at 304-327-4208.

IAEGER — Gilbert Shotokan Karate Academy in Iaeger is offering adult karate classes on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30-9:30. Youth (7-12) classes are Tuesday and Thursday at 5 p.m. and Monday at 7:30. Kids class (6 and under) is Monday at 5 p.m. Women’s Self-Defense classes are Wednesday at 7:30 to 8:30. PRINCETON — An adult tennis league is now being held at the Princeton Senior High School courts. Singles are held on Tuesday, with doubles on Thursday. BASEBALL TOURNAMENT

GARDNER — The Labor Day Bash will be held at PikeView High School and the Gardner fields, Sept. 1-2. There will be three age brackets, 11-U, 14-U and high school. Entry fee is $225 and a dozen balls.
