Mom goes the extra distance to ensure good grades for her kids

NEW TRIPOLI, Penn. — A Pennsylvania mother who wanted to help her children succeed at school allegedly logged into a school district’s computer to change their grades, according to state police and school officials.

Catherine Venusto, 45, said she used passwords obtained while working as a secretary for the Northwestern Lehigh School District to log onto the school system’s computers on several occasions, according to MSNBC.

After hacking into the computers, Venusto changed her daughter’s failing grade to a medical exemption in 2010 and boosted a grade of 98 to a 99 for her son in February, investigators said.

Venusto has been charged with three  counts of unlawful use of a computer and three counts of computer trespass, according to court records. She was released on $30,000 bond.

Police stated that she admitted her actions were unethical but not illegal.
