- — HAVERHILL, Mass. - Six high school seniors have been suspended for a week for pilfering candy from a Little League snack shack they were suppose to fix up as part of a class carpentry project.
Superintendent William DeRosa said the students admitted they stuffed about $25 worth of assorted candy into a bag while evaluating the shack for repairs.
Little League officials notified the school of the missing candy earlier this week, and DeRosa said administrators immediately confronted the work crew, which included five male and one female student.
DeRosa said they readily admitting taking the candy.
"In my opinion, the admission shows good character, although it was a very bad decision on their part," the superintendent said.
The students attend Whittier Regional Technical High School in the city made famous by a former student, the late Bob Montana, who used it as a model to create the popular "Archie" comic book series.
