Donald Vadis “Don” Wallace Sr,
LARGO, Fla. — Donald Vadis “Don” Wallace, Sr., age 83, of 5011 Rushland Dr., passed away on January 31, 2010 in Largo, Fla.
Born in Dott, W.Va. on Oct. 18, 1926, he was a son of the late Frederick Cecil Wallace and Hettie Lovell Wallace. He retired as the rank of Tech Sergeant from the United States Air Force after twenty-one years of service. Following retirement from the USAF, he began employment with AT&T;, later retiring after twenty years. Mr. Wallace was a Ham Radio enthusiast, a lover of restoring antique cars, and was an avid traveler.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Anna Carolyn Baddley Wallace of the home; daughter, Patricia Ann “Trisha” Wallace of Miami, Fla.; son, Donald Vadis “Butch” Wallace, Jr. and wife, Tonya, of Largo, Fla.; two sisters, Virginia Sweeney of Portsmouth, Va., and Christie Ritter of Ocala, Fla.; and a brother, Bob Wallace of Hopewell, Va. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, and their families whom he dearly loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Lou Wallace and Woodrow Wallace.
The funeral service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 in the mausoleum chapel of Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson, S.C. The Reverend Jack Taylor will conduct the service.
The family is at the home of Mary Elizabeth Rigell, 2504 Saxony Dr., Anderson, S.C.
