— EFFINGHAM, Ill. - Another National Football League player finds himself in trouble with the law this off season.
Defensive back Donald Washington of the Kansas City Chiefs was arrested in Illinois last Thursday for going 88 miles per hour on a 65 mph highway seven miles west of here.
But that was only the start of his troubles. State troopers also cited Washington for driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of marijuana and driving on a suspended license.
Crushed pills found in Washington's car were sent to a laboratory for analysis. If they test positive as a controlled substance, additional charges could be filed.
Washington was released from jail on $20,000 bond after a brief court appearance Friday.
Washington, 25, was a fourth-round pick for the chiefs in 2009 out of Ohio State University. He was a standout player for Franklin Central High School in Indianapolis during his prep yers. He played in eight games for Kansas City last season.
