By ED ROBINSON

PRINCETON — The Tigerettes dropped a Feb. 16 game to powerful Summers County, 92-69, and lost on the road to Greenbrier East, 68-63, on Feb. 12.

Princeton did not play badly in either game, but the Tigerettes were unable to record a victory.

The awesome Bobcats recorded their 60th consecutive win in downing Princeton. Summers County (20-0 this season) shot a sizzling 62 percent from the field and forced 30 Tigerette miscues in recording the win. Junior Leslie Mack eclipsed the 1,000-point career scoring mark during the game in which she totaled 28 points. Teammate Hallie Gunnoe bucketed 33 to lead the Bobcat attack. This is the most points that Princeton had allowed an opposing player this season.

Princeton’s game attempt to remain competitive was hampered by their turnovers and a sometimes porous defense.

Despite the decisive setback, the Tigerettes did accomplish a number of positive things. Their point total was the most points surrendered by the Bobcats the season. Princeton shot over 48 percent from the floor, their second best performance of the year. Four Princeton players tallied in double figures, a first this season. The Tigerettes held a narrow rebounding margin and forced 24 Bobcat errors.

Pacing the Tigerette attack was McKenzie Akers with 21 points and eight assists. Brittany (CD) Lankford bucketed 12 points, a season high. Hannah Preservati tallied 11 points (a career high) and snared seven rebounds. Krystle White played a solid game and recorded 10 points. Others Tigerette scorers were Mary Beth Miller and Cheyanne Walker, with nine and six points, respectively.

Cheyanne Walker had a career game for the visitors. She pumped in 22 points and connected on nine of 15 field goal attempts. Cheyanne snatched 10 boards to collect a double-double. Krystle White tallied 16 points including three goals from beyond the arc. McKenzie Akers posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists.

Rounding out the scoring for the Tigerettes were Brittany Lankford (five points), Kendria Perkins (four points), and Hannah Preservati (three points).

Princeton shot 33 percent from the field, but committed only 13 turnovers.

Shay Walker, with 20 points, and Christine McClung, with 15 points, keyed the Spartan offense.
