The Democrat Super Committee members walked away from negotiations today [Nov. 9, 2011] (They snuck out the back door.), refusing to cut any spending and demanding tax hikes. Oh well, another ploy on someone’s part to make everyone in Congress look bad.
I wonder what happened with that little war against England because of taxation without representation. They called it The Revolutionary War.
Do you think it’s time we did the same thing to Washington, D.C.? It isn’t even a state, so they, like England, need to be put in their place. They are the employee, not the employer. They have no monies of their own. The taxpayers’ monies fuel their spending, and we taxpayers are going to cut the apron strings. We are tired of wiping the government’s nose, while their hand is in our pockets.
I am writing this to every registered voter of the Democrat, Republican, Independent and any other nationally recognized political party. To the American workers who are just getting by, the workers who are not getting by, to the unemployed and the underemployed who feel helpless. To the retirees looking at a wall with no choices. While our president froze cost-of-living increases for Social Security recipients for the last two years, Congress has given themselves, I know of, two cost-of-living increases and a pay raise.
What puts the men and women of the White House or Congress above us? We pay their salaries. We don’t get raises, but they can just give themselves a raise without the taxpayers agreeing to it, even though we taxpayers sign their checks. I think it’s time that the federal government and every federal employee’s cost-of-living increases, benefits package improvement, and raises are frozen just like the senior citizens’ and all Social Security recipients’ income was frozen for a couple of years. How do they like that?
I do know that Congress and our president took, or stole, the Social Security money stored in the basement of a library in, I believe, Philadelphia, Pa. They have never tried to pay it back, offered to pay it back or to even pay interest on the money. They robbed Peter to pay Paul. At least when Jesse James robbed you, he used a gun and you knew you were being held up. If this theft happened in the private sector, it would be called FRAUD — felony and theft, or embezzlement and the prison population would have a sudden increase in the population of white collar workers. They (the federal government) stole the taxpayers monies , laughed all the way to the bank and never looked back. The biggest pack of thieves I have ever known about in my life.
I do not know all the answers for our government’s inability to govern or to pay our nation’s bill. I do know that we need a strong leader that will step up to the plate in the White House and lead, not be out playing golf, going on vacation, or traveling around on the taxpayers’ dollars. We need to be united as a nation, not having our leaders using class warfare, back Wall Street or anything else to divide us. Not using last-minute delays, shell games, or executive orders to get their way. The leader is acting more like a dictator than a president by doing these back-door and closed-door deals.
Don’t know about you, but I can’t see through the doors. Oh well, so much for transparency.
Why are we giving foreign aid to countries that hate us and want to kill us? Why can’t we take 50 percent of that money to feed the children in desperate need? We have children going to bed hungry in this nation every night. We must take care of our own before we can take care of the world. Cut up Washington’s credit card to stop the government spending which causes them to borrow more money then they can pay back. (In the private sector, it is called going bankrupt.)
I do know from living on a budget for the majority of my life you cannot spend more than you take in, or you will never get ahead. Don’t overspend. You may have a loan for your home or a car or have to use credit for an emergency when you need an appliance for your home. That’s understandable and necessary things, but everyday living, if you don’t have cash to pay for it, wait until you do. Then get whatever you want.
The same rules apply to our government’s spending, and they need to make a budget and stick to it.
History has proven that politics and politicians are just out and out criminals, just not convicted criminals. In my lifetime, I have seen friends and Congressmen lie under oath to Congress (its called perjury), blacklisting or blackballing by the FBI against private citizens (It was called J. Edgar Hoover), Congressmen on the committee that oversees and makes regulations for the Internal Revenue Service and not paying their income taxes (Rangel), Congressmen sending indecent pictures via the internet to young women (Cyber Crimes), he resigned but he still did it and a President forced to resign before impeachment (Watergate). The list goes on and on.
I don’t understand how Congress passes all the rules that benefit their pocketbooks, their vacation homes, their retirement funds that are bursting at the seems, their children’s college education. Oh, you know they wrote the rules, voted on and passed them asking us the whole time to trust them, “We will take care of you.” Yeah, that’s how they did that.
I guess I am saying that we as a community, a state and a nation, we have a lot of House cleaning to do on all sides. I will sweep my doorstep and you can sweep your if you want to. I intend to cast my vote, write my Congressman, I want changes made to my America. I am proud to be from West Virginia and a resident of the greatest nation on the face of this Earth who under God we trust.
I know if I don’t vote, I can’t complain. I would just have to take whatever was handed out and shut up because I chose to do nothing. I will stand up for my God, my family, and my country with pride in them all.
