PRINCETON — More than 37 acres of prime Princeton real estate will hit the auction block April 13 at 2 p.m.
The Dean Company’s former manufacturing headquarters and land adjacent to Bee Street are set for sale in a public auction by Woltz & Associates Real Estate Brokers and Auctioneers, according to information on the company website.
City Manager Wayne Shumate confirmed Wednesday that he had been in contact with Boyd Temple, of Woltz & Associates, who reported the land will likely be parceled into various tracts and sold to the highest available bidders.
“This property is ideally located with easy access just off of Route 460 in Princeton and has great visibility from Route 460,” the Woltz & Associates website read this week.
In addition, Shumate advised Princeton-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce leaders this week that Temple hoped the auction would revitalize business development at the once-thriving site and put people back to work in Princeton.
Founded in 1963, The Dean Company produced hardwood and softwood veneer from cherry, ash, red and white oak, maple, poplar, Carolina pine and walnut logs. The Dean Company also imported a range of veneers from Europe, Africa, South America, Southeast Asia and Australia.
A large portion of the developed property up for auction includes The Dean Company’s former manufacturing warehouse. The veneer operation’s buildings feature approximately 274,800 square feet, of which only about 8,500 square feet are office space, according to Woltz & Associates.
Interested buyers may bid on the buildings and undeveloped property or pick and choose their desired tracts.
“The undeveloped acreage has long road frontage on Bee Street and Maple Street to the east, and will be offered in tracts, separately and in combination with the manufacturing/warehouse facility tract,” the Woltz & Associates website stated.
