June 23
• DOMESTIC BATTERY: Dep. J.D. Gills and Dep. J.E. Coulter responded to Rock, where a woman reported that her boyfriend returned home intoxicated and began arguing and hitting her. He allegedly refused to stop, despite her orders to do so. Officers attempted to speak with the male subject, but Gills reported his speech was so slurred and he appeared so intoxicated that they were unable to obtain any real information. James Mullins, 45, of Rock, was charged with domestic battery.
June 25
• SHOPLIFTING: Lt. K.W. Reed cited Kendra Renee Phillips, 22, of Matoaka, with shoplifting, after employees at J.C. Penney allegedly detained her when she took a pair of cargo shorts without paying for them.
• BURGLARY: Dep. E.P. Parks responded to Bent Mountain Road, where a complainant reported someone kicked in a back door to his residence and stole guns, jewelry and electronics. A shoe print was lifted from the door and submitted for evidence. The case was forwarded to the detective bureau.
June 27
• LEAVING THE SCENE: Dep. A.M. Ballard responded to Lacy Street in Princeton, where a complainant reported a vehicle collided with a home and fled. The officer investigated and determined the suspect vehicle to be a truck or SUV with rear-wheel drive and green or teal paint.
• BREAKING AND ENTERING: Dep. W.E. Rose responded to Blueprince Road, where a complainant reported someone stole a motorcycle from a garage. The case remained under investigation.
June 28
• BREAKING AND ENTERING, AUTO: Dep. W.E. Rose investigated a complaint on Courthouse Road that someone broke a window, entered a vehicle, ripped out the dashboard and knocked a hole in the door panel. Stereo equipment was also reported missing.
• BREAKING AND ENTERING, GRAND LARCENY: Dep. W.E. Rose responded to Clover Dew Dairy Road, where a complainant reported someone broke into an Allegheny Wood Products building and stole almost $8,000 in tools. The investigation is ongoing.
• ATTEMPTED BREAKING AND ENTERING: Capt. M.L. Gills received a report that two white males attempted to pry a residence on Route 4 open. The resident was not home, but neighbors advised the men that the resident was not present. The suspects left in a dark-colored car.
June 29
• ENTERING WITHOUT BREAKING, PETIT LARCENY: Senior Dep. W.C. Wilborn responded to an incident on Perdue Hollow Road, in which the complainant reported someone entered the family vehicles and stole items throughout. Some items were recovered along the roadway near the home.
• DRIVING REVOKED, NO INSURANCE, IMPROPER REGISTRATION, IMPROPER MOTOR VEHICLE INSPECTION STICKER: Sgt. G.W. Woods and Sgt. S.J. Cary were traveling west on U.S. 460, when they reported seeing a white vehicle run a red light near Walmart. The officers initiated a traffic stop and reported finding that the driver was operating the vehicle with a sticker and registration that belonged on another vehicle, without insurance and without a valid driver's license. William James Marsh, 25, of Pipestem, was arrested.
