PRINCETON POLICE

Nov. 13

• FORGERY AND UTTERING: A Highland Avenue man reported two of his checks had been stolen from his residence and cashed at First Community Bank. Ptlm. C.S. Winkler investigated.

• BREACH OF PEACE: Lt. K.T. Compton responded to Princeton Community Hospital, where a male patient allegedly caused a disturbance. Employees advised that a male patient had been refusing treatment and was making threats. Lt. K.T. Compton reported his intention was to have an officer transport the man home, but he allegedly began cursing and refusing to cooperate as he was escorted to a cruiser. Cody Yates, 22, of North Tazewell, Va., was then arrested for breach of peace.

• DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE, OBSTRUCTING A POLICE OFFICER: Officers responded to alerts of a white Acura traveling erratically in the Stafford Drive area, where the driver and the passenger allegedly pulled over and switched places. Ptlm. J.D. Lambert observed the vehicle and followed it, reporting it was traveling at a very low rate of speed. Lambert initiated a traffic stop. The officer spoke with the woman driving the vehicle at the time, and cited Lydia Milam, 46, of Princeton, for obstructing an officer by switching places with the man. He then attempted to speak with the male who was riding in the car at that time and believed to have been driving at one time. Lambert noted the man was taking pictures of the witnesses with his camera phone. He also allegedly resisted a weapons search of his person and failed field sobriety tests. Charges were pending.

• BREACH OF PEACE: Ptlm. M.B. Gergely and Sgt. T.A. Gray responded to Mercer Street, where a woman advised the man she argued with had not struck her but had caused a disturbance. Officers located the suspect and noted that he smelled strongly of alcohol and reported he had no place to go for the night. Jeffrey Johnson, 41, of Princeton, was charged.
