PRINCETON POLICE
June 25
• BATTERY: A woman reported she was walking on the street when a woman pulled up in an unknown vehicle, got out of the vehicle's passenger side and began to punch the complainant. The complainant was transported to Princeton Community Hospital for treatment. Tammy Gibson, 34, of Princeton, was charged.
June 26
• FLEEING ON FOOT, POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: Sgt. T.A. Gray reported seeing a man walking on Mercer Street and knew there was an active warrant through the City of Bluefield. The suspect allegedly fled on foot upon seeing the officer. Gray tackled Anthony Kalal-Hatley, 20, of Rock, and Ptlm. B.E. Grimm reported finding marijuana in his possession.
• DOMESTIC BATTERY, DESTRUCTION FOR PROPERTY: Officers received a report that someone was breaking windows at a residence on Beckley Road. Ptlm. J.D. Halsey investigated, and the woman at the scene reported her husband grabbed her by the hair, threw her to the couch and battered her. Jose Lopez-Ruiz, 40, of Princeton, was charged.
• BATTERY: Officers responded to North Wickham Avenue, where a complainant reported a disturbance. Officers heard yelling coming from an apartment and investigated. Sgt. T.A. Gray, Ptlm. J.D. Halsey and Ptlm. B.E. Grimm reported seeing two men on the couch with one pulling the other's hair. Injuries from a physical altercation were also allegedly apparent. Statements indicated that one of the subjects had accused another of being a “snitch” and instigated an altercation with a knife. Warrants were pending.
June 28
• AGGRAVATED DUI: While on patrol, Ptlm. B.E. Grimm reported seeing a red truck traveling at a high rate of speed turn onto Morrison Drive. The officer initiated a traffic stop and reported that the driver advised he had two beers. He was allegedly unable to complete sobriety testing, and a blood-alcohol test reported 0.174 reading, more than twice the legal limit. Fletcher Reece, 23, of Princeton, was charged with DUI.
• SHOPLIFTING: Ptlm. T.A. Bailey responded to Sav-A-Lot, where a woman allegedly fled without paying for pickles, French fries and chicken strips. Sherry Matthews, of Kegley, was cited for shoplifting.
