• PETIT LARCENY: Ptlm. J.D. Halsey received a report from a Washington Avenue resident who stated that his family dog had been removed from the residence. Witnesses advised that they saw two juveniles with the pet, a Rottweiler puppy.

• DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: A Douglas Street complainant reported the back door of a home she was renovating had been damaged. Ptlm. W.M. Bradley investigated.

• SHOPLIFTING: Ptlm. C.S. Winkler responded to a shoplifting complaint at Liquors and More on Stafford Drive. The complainant reported she saw a suspect conceal three bottles of alcohol and attempt to leave without paying. Adam Copley, 21, of Northfork, was cited for shoplifting.

• BREAKING AND ENTERING: Ptlm. D.A. Weatherly responded to Princeton Storage, where a complainant stated two motorcycle helmets and a remote-controlled car stolen from his storage unit.

Aug. 1

• MALICIOUS WOUNDING, DOMESTIC BATTERY, DOMESTIC ASSAULT: Officers received a report that a woman was being held against her will at a residence on South Avenue. As they approached the apartment, the alleged victim walked toward them with torn clothing and multiple red marks all over her body, according to a report by Ptlm. J.D. Halsey. The incident allegedly stemmed from an argument that began when the woman declined to leave Cowboy Up with her boyfriend and he allegedly saw her dancing with another man. When she did leave with him en route to his apartment, the man allegedly threatened to kill her and proceeded to throw her against the stairs and tear her clothes off when they reached the building. The man allegedly choked the woman, held a knife to her throat and cut her leg. Walter Blankenship, 31, of Princeton, was arrested on the listed charges.

Aug. 2

• POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE MARIJUANA, SIMPLE POSSESSION: Sgt. T.A. Gray stopped a Honda Civic on South Wickham Avenue for having a defective right taillight.  While speaking with the driver, Gray reported smelling marijuana inside the vehicle. Suspects handed over a duffle bag containing a substantial amount of marijuana. A subject in the car claimed marijuana cigarettes inside the ash tray, and officers located several baggies and other items used to package and distribute controlled substances. Gary Sanders, 21, of Princeton, was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Matthew Perry, 27, of Princeton, was charged with simple possession. A juvenile was released to the custody of a relative.

• PETIT LARCENY: A complainant advised Ptlm. W.M. Bradley that someone stole a gas water heater from a home he was working on located on Thornton Avenue.

• DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Ptlm. D.A. Weatherly responded to A&A Auto sales, where someone broke the key switches from three vehicles.

• FUGITIVE FROM JUSTICE: Ptlm. D.A. Weatherly reported seeing a BMW travel through a stop sign at the intersection of Ingleside and Princeton Avenue. The officer discovered the passenger in the vehicle was wanted on a warrant in Wytheville, Va. Derek Hurley, 33, of Wytheville, was arrested.

Aug. 3

• DUI, DUI FLEEING, DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY, OBSTRUCTING AN OFFICER: Ptlm. D.A. Weatherly responded to a possible DUI on Oliver Avenue. The officer located the suspect vehicle and reported that the vehicle sped up after he activated blue lights and attempted a stop. After running several red lights and traveling erratically, the driver stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. The officer caught up with the suspect on Bee Street, where he allegedly resisted arrest. John J. Lillly, 21, of Princeton, was arrested.
