Wayne Sizemore

PRINCETON — Boyce Wayne Sizemore, 66, of Princeton, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va. Born February 2, 1947 at New Richmond, he was the son of the late Charley H. Sizemore and Rosa Gay Blankenship Sizemore Gill.

He was of the Baptist faith and a 1965 graduate of Hinton High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a coal miner for many years and was later a Mine Safety Inspector. He was a former long haul truck driver for WLA Trucking. He was a former supervisor at the Army Ammunition Plant in Radford, Va. He was the owner and operator of the Athens Farmer's Market until he became disabled. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and grandson.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Brandon Allen Kanode; and ten brothers and sisters.

Survivors include three children, Annie Sizemore-Martin and husband Robert of Arnett, Becky Kanode Crockett and husband Ron of Princeton and Rodney Sizemore and wife Kimberly of Lashmeet; eight grandchildren, Lindsey Kanode and her fiancé David Doss, Elizabeth Martin, Emilee Martin, Esabelle Martin, Courtney Farmer, Miranda Sizemore, Caleb Sizemore and Madison Sizemore; four great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Maleah, Savannah, Braylon and two on the way; three sisters, Aline Shrewsberry of Fayette County, Willa Mae Haynes of Lashmeet and Georgia Shrewsberry of Bud; one sister-in-law, Rosemary Sizemore of Pineville; the mother of his children and faithful friend, Dora. He is also survived by his best friend and companion, his dog, Sassy.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Charles Farmer and the Rev. Larry Cecil officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Princeton where military honors will be conducted by the WV National Guard Honor Guard.  

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Caleb Sizemore and Braylon Doss.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family c/o Becky Crockett, 114 Caraway St., Princeton, WV 24739 or to Bluefield Shrine Club, Rob Catron, P.O. Box 159, Princeton, WV 24740 (to be used for Shriners Childrens Hospitals).

Friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour on Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
