FALLS MILLS, Va. — Eppie E. Riffe of Pebblestone Drive Falls Mills, Va., died on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Mercer Nursing and Rehab in Bluefield, W.Va.
Born on January 22, 1922 in Wyoming Co. at Cub Creek, she was a daughter of the late Bilton and Dixie Harless Cook. She was last survivor of this family. Eppie was a housewife, mother and “Granny” to many.
She was a member of Bethany Regular Baptist Church at Ikes Fork.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Mervin E. Riffe; four sons Robert (Bob), Smith (Joe), Darrell and Doug; four grandsons Adam, Aaron, Brandon and Ryan; two sisters, Hattie Riffe and Pearl Cline; seven brothers, Carl, Byrd, Birchie, Theodore, Roy, James O. (Chap) and Lewis (L.B.)
She is survived by sons, Arthur (Bilton) Riffe of Bluefield, Va., Lewis (Popeye) Riffe and wife Linda of Falls Mills, Va., Denver Riffe and wife Cheryl of Falls Mills, Va., Michael Riffe and wife Drema of Kernersville, N.C., Tom Riffe and wife Beverly of Bluefield, W.Va.; daughters, Mary Ellen Green and husband Gene of Pineville, W.Va., Rita Smith of Falls Mills, Va.; 26 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, W.Va., on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Elders Gene Green, Greg Kinser, Lonnie Mullins, Denny Lee Mullins and Luke Lester officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Bluewell, W.Va., where grandsons will be serving as pallbearers and granddaughter will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Friends and family may call at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home on Friday, February 22, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. where friends and family will be gathering for an evening service at 7:30 p.m.
