WOLFORD, Va. —
Frankie Selbee Fortner, 95, of Wolford, Va., passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 at her home following an extended illness. Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Selbee and Mary Tennessee Watts Selbee Adkins. She was a resident of Buchanan County most of her life and was a member of the Bee Branch Old Regular Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Fortner; daughter, Rachel Rife Cline; son, Donald Fortner; sisters, Nellie Selbee and May Cyrus; brothers, Boyd Selbee, Thurman Adkins and Ermal Wilson; a grandson, three great-grandchldren and two sons-in-law.
She is survived by her daughters, Geraldine and husband Roy Nichols of Grundy, Va., Brenda and husband Latney Bandy of Wolford, Va., Diana and husband Ron Bandy of Hurley, Va., Anita and husband Jimmy Goss of Whitewood, Va., and Marletta and husband Greg Cantrell of Whitewood, Va.; son, Burnice and wife Janet Fortner of Hurley, Va.; sisters, Laura Williams of Glendale, Ariz., and Thelma Napier of Novi, Mich. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and seventeen great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Frankie Selbee Fortner will be conducted Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Bee Branch Old Regular Baptist Church with elders, James Stacy, Gary Estep, George Baker and Danny Hurley officiating with burial to follow in the Mary Lou Cemetery, Paynesville.
Friends may call at the Bee Branch Old Regular Baptist Church Saturday evening at 6 p.m. with services at 7 p.m.
Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.
