PRINCETON —
David A. Michael, 64, of Princeton, ended his 15-year battle with cancer on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012. Ultimately the victory was David's and a peaceful place at the side of the throne is his reward.
Born May 19, 1948 at Covel, he was the son of the late Rayburn Dailey Michael and Deulah B. Lewis Michael.
Mr. Michael was a 1968 graduate of Herndon High School. He was a tipple welder and mechanic at Herndon and was a member of the UMWA since 1969. He was of the Baptist faith, was an avid WVU fan and loved cooking a big pot of spagotts. His serenity came from spending time at the beach with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, David A. “Crockett” Michael II in 2006; two sisters, Lola Bailey and Billie Christian; and one brother, Harold D. Michael.
Among those left to carry on his memory are his wife of 42 years, Patricia Ratcliff Michael; one son, Robert Ryan Michael and his wife Tiffany and two grandsons, Connor David Michael and Declan Reid Michael all of Louisa, Va.; special nieces and nephews, Candida Smith of Rural Retreat, Va., Lola Ray Marsh and Billy Michael both of Mullens, and Toni Michael and Wayne Michael both of North Carolina; and several special grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Roger Lusk officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Close friends will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Friends may call Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
