BLUEFIELD —
Edward Lee Finney, 43, of 1584 Red Oak Ridge Road, Bluefield, W.Va., passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013 in Sophia, W.Va. as a result of a coal mining accident.
Born September 12, 1969 in Bluefield, W.Va., he was a son of Troy and Violet Louise York Finney of Bluefield, W.Va. Edward attended the Deliverance Temple Church and had been a resident of Bluefield for the past five years and was employed at the Pocahontas Coal Company, Affinity Mine in Sophia.
Mr. Finney was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a son: Hunter Finney of Princeton, W.Va.; four daughters: Brittany Lee Finney, Taylor Renee Finney, Kayla Justine Finney all of Morganton, N.C., Kaylei Madison Finney of Princeton; two grandchildren: Bentley Mason Watts, Greyson Oliver Finney both of Morganton, N.C.; two children he helped raise: Allison Henson, Colton Britton both of Clayton, N.C.; four brothers: Matthew W. Finney of Casar, N.C., David Finney of Bluefield, W.Va., Darrell Finney of Morganton, N.C., Troy Mark Finney also of Morganton, N.C.; and his fiancée, Barbara Hunnell of Princeton.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Kirby officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery located in Bluewell. Matthew W. Finney, David Finney, Darrell Finney, Troy Mark Finney, Mike Graham, and Richard Perkins will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Price and William Hensley.
The family will receive friends at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home on Monday, February 11, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
