Christopher Abraham Ammar, 58, of Chapmanville, W.Va., passed away Friday, February 8, 2013 at Logan Regional Medical Center.
He was born October 17, 1954, in Logan, W.Va. the son of Betty Altizer Ammar of Chapmanville, W.Va. and the late A.S. "Buddy" Ammar. Also preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, Willard and Doris Altizer and paternal grandparents, S.A. and Stella Ammar; his aunt, Radine Ammar Queen; and uncles, James Ammar, S.A. Ammar Jr.
Chris graduated from Bluefield High School and attended West Virginia University.
Survivors include, his loving wife of 23 years, Linda Wells Ammar; daughter, Erin Elam (Freddy Simon) of Bluefield, W.Va.; granddaughter, Jocelyn Elizabeth Simon also of Bluefield; sisters, Katrina Newberry of Williamson, W.Va., Melinda (Charles) Piccirillo of Madison, W.Va.; brother, Michael (Hannah) Ammar of Orlando, Fla.; nieces, Angela (Josh) Mason of Charlotte, N.C., Katie (Ben) Sherman of Charlotte, N.C., Jennifer Newberry of Charlotte, N.C. and Savannah Ammar of Orlando, Fla. and nephews, Matthew Newberry of Norfolk, Va. and Evan Ammar of Orlando, Fla.; and an aunt, Beverly Ammar Joseph of Canton, Ohio.
Services will be held 5:00 p.m. today (Sunday), February 10, 2013 at the James Funeral Home Chapel with Father George Kostas officiating. There will be no burial. Chris' body will be cremated. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. also on Sunday at the funeral home.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society of your choice.
James Funeral Home in Logan is in charge of arrangements.
