WELCH —
Mildred Easter, 86, of Welch, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Va.
Born Oct. 31, 1926 in Raleigh County, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Delano Bennett and Lola Adkins Bennett. She was a crafter and loved to sew. She was a former member of the Welch Women of the Moose.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Easter; a son, Franklin Collins; two sisters, Justine Roope and Opal Cullom; a brother, Franklin Bennett; and her special dog, “Pug”. She was the last surviving member of her original family.
Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, William “Ronnie” Collins of Premier and Harold “Connie” Collins and wife Carol of Bluefield; three daughters, Don Juan “Donnie” Skuja of Hudson, Fla., Tammy Scott and husband Barry of Welch, and Robin Lee of Princeton; eight grandchildren, Barry Scott Jr., Sandra Lee, Jamie Hackney, Wendy Kay Spratt, Wendell “Winky” Spratt, Chad Blackburn, Christopher Collins and Paula Callaway; several great and great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend and caregiver, Anita Justice of Welch.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday at noon in the Douglas Mortuary Chapel in Welch with the Rev. Irvin Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Friends will serve as pallbearers.
The Douglas Mortuary of Welch is serving the family of Mildred Easter.
