WAR —
Clarence Edward Blankenship, age 75, of War, West Virginia, passed away Friday, January 25, 2013, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. Born April 14, 1937, on Beech Hill in War, W.Va., he was the son of the late John Morgan and Ida Mae Asbury Blankenship.
He was a resident of War the greater part of his life. He was a graduate of Big Creek High School and an honor graduate of Concord College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and he was a life time member of the Blinded Veterans Association.
Preceded in death by, in addition to his parents, one daughter, Myrna Jo Pruett; two brothers, Wayne Blankenship, Johnny Blankenship Jr.; and one sister, Eula Branhan.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Johnson Blankenship of War; one son, Keith Blankenship of Savannah, Ga.; six daughters, Tamara and Dreama Blankenship both of Charlotte, N.C., Natalie Blankenship of Gastonia, N.C., Tina Blankenship and Sabrina Heaton both of Sedalia, Mo., Meshell Billings of War, W.Va.; one grandson, Andrew Z. Blankenship; three brothers, Ernie Blankenship of Winchester, Va., Tom Blankenship of Morgantown, W.Va., Bret Blankenship of Bristol, Tenn.; four sisters, Viola Fairchild of Vidor, Texas, Shelby Hicks Blankenship of Benedict, Md., Anita Duncan of Rio Rancho, N.M., Karen "Paige" Johnson of Tazewell, Va.
Memorial services will be conducted Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 1 p.m. from the Calvary Baptist Church in War with the Reverend Travis Hyde, officiating. Military Honors will be conducted at the church immediately following the services by the Iaeger V.F.W. Post 1144. Following the wishes of the deceased the body has been cremated.
Friends may call Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the church, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Restoration Fund of the Blankenship Family Home at the MCNB Bank, Box 549, Welch WV 24801.
