BLUEFIELD, Va. —
Wain C. Mahaffey, 89, of Bluefield, Va. (Abb's Valley), passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Tazewell, Va. Born in Grayson County, he was the son of the late Coy E. Mahaffey and Betty Spencer Mahaffey.
He was retired from Thistle Foundry in Bluefield, Va.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Orlie and Lester Mahaffey.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Sanders Mahaffey of the home; one daughter, Brenda Mahaffey Hypes and son-in-law Larry James Hypes of Martinsville, Va.; one granddaughter, Shelly L. Hypes of Martinsville, Va.; one grandson, Joshua T. Hypes of Statesville, N.C.; two sisters, Lessie Sluss of Tazewell, Va. and Carol Riggins of Gary, W.Va.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va. with the Rev. Reginald Blakewood officiating. Internment will follow at the Sanders Family Cemetery in Boissevain, Va. Friends may call Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Michael Boone, George Bentley, David Asbury, Jimmy Dickens, Joe Murphy and Norman Murphy.
The Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va. is serving the Mahaffey family.
