BLUEFIELD —
Robert Michael “Mickey” Alley, age 57, of 185 Airy Street, Bluefield, W.Va., passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Born on December 6, 1955 in Mercer County, he was a son of the late William “Richard” Alley Sr. and Marie Flora Shumate Alley. He had been a resident of Brushfork for 24 years and was the owner of Fat Cat Racing and formerly worked for McDowell County Board of Education, Swope Construction, T&N Electric in Brushfork and the Bluefield WV Rescue Squad.
Survivors include: Wife of 36 years: Janet Owrey Alley of the home; three daughters: Jennifer and James Hurt of Brushfork, W.Va., Meghan Alley of Brushfork, Elizabeth Alley of Princeton; three grandchildren: Baylee Alley, Hannah Poe, and David Hurt; brother: William Richard Alley and Susan of Coalwood; sisters: Rita Wernke and Paul of Hermantown, Minn., Cathy Mitchem and Greg of Elkhorn; special friend: Pat Castle of Princeton; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with the Rev. James Milam officiating. In keeping with Mickey's wishes, cremation will follow services.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
