MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. —
Virginia Vaynes Villani, 95, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., died peacefully at The Retreat at Brightwater, Sunday, January 6, 2013.
Virginia was the daughter of Louis and Annie Vaynes. She was born and raised in Lynchburg, Va. and attended Lynchburg College. During this time, she met and married Dr. Angelo Joseph Villani Sr. They then moved to Welch, W.Va. where they raised their four children.
Active in her community, she supported local athletic teams and professional organizations. She was a past president of the West Virginia Medical Auxiliary.
Virginia was a talented bridge player achieving her Life Master in duplicate bridge, well respected for her financial acumen and loved for her commitment to family and friends.
Virginia and her husband retired to Myrtle Beach in 1979.
Mrs. Villani was a member of Trinity Church since 1981; a member of the Alter Guild for many years. She was a devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her son Dr. Angelo Villani Jr. (AJ) and her brothers, Gus Vaynes and Steve Vaynes.
Virginia is survived by her children Cecelia “Punky” Vickery and her husband, Woody of Salisbury, Md., Dr. Peter Villani and his wife, Claudia of Lumberton, N.C., Dr. Susan Villani and her husband, Dr. Davis Shingelton of Baltimore, Md. and her sister Ethel Huband of North Myrtle Beach, S.C. Survivors also include seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating Virginia's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2013 at Trinity Church, 3000 North Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach.
The family will receive friends at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club following the service.
