BLUEFIELD —
Mrs. Louise Ameredith Larry, 92, of 211 Nutwood Street, Bluefield, W.Va., died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in Beckley, W.Va. Born March 6, 1920 in Proctorville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Annie Gomer Dolby.
She was a homemaker and worked as a supervisor of the laundry department at the (former) Stevens Clinic Hospital of Welch until her retirement in 1985.
Mrs. Larry was a faithful member of Rock Hill Baptist Church, Gary, W.Va. until the illness of her husband where she served as Deaconess, member of the Missionary Society, Usher Board and Kitchen Committee.
More than anything, she enjoyed being with her family and loved to cook. She spent many hours preparing food for family, church, friends, and neighbors. She loved to hear them rave about her cooking. She was known for her hot rolls and applesauce cake.
She was the last living member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Larry for 65 years; a son, Tyrone Larry; a daughter, Deborah Isabelle; sisters, Mildred Stewart, Carrie King, Violet Gilliam, Emma Hopkins; and brothers, Donald Dolby and Charles Gomer.
Surviving Mrs. Larry are a devoted daughter and caregiver, Sandra Wade of Bluefield, W.Va.; a son, Nelson (Dolores) Larry of Manchester, Connecticut; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, January 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Nathaniel Burroughs officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Bluewell, W.Va.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions will be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 1111 Lee Street, East Charleston, WV 25301, Hospice Compassus, 100 Hilltop Lane, Princeton, WV 24740, or the Bower House, 454 Cranberry Dr., Beckley, WV 25801.
