BLUEFIELD —
Willetta Naomi Rane Farmer, 82, formerly of Bluefield, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in Fort Wayne, Ind. She was born on October 28, 1930 in War. She was the daughter of the late George Pearl Rane and Bessie Mae West Rane.
She married Charles Owen Farmer on July 3, 1965. They owned Owen's and Roland's Service Station in War. She was a former employee of Bailey Lumber Company at War and also worked for Coppinger Machinery Company in Bluefield. She was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church in War. After moving to Princeton she moved her membership to First Baptist Church in Princeton where she was a member of the Debbie Snider Circle. She was a graduate of Big Creek High School in War. She attended monthly lunches in Tazewell, Va. with former graduates and enjoyed quilting in her spare time.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Owen Farmer and sisters, Wilda Rane Cox and Maude Rane Peery.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Violet Farmer Cassett and husband John Cassett, step-grandson, John Owen Cassett and wife Barbara, step-granddaughter, Amy Renee Cassett Flag and husband Jud; step-great-grandchildren, Nathan, Sarah and Eli Flag and Johnny and Anne Cassett, all of Ashland, Va.; nieces and nephews, Sharon Cox McCoart and husband Pete, Susan Cox Smith and husband Lyle and Leon Cox, all of Huntington, Ind., Robert Peery and wife Norma of Jackson, Tenn., Betty Peery Paschall and husband Charlie, David Peery and Rick Peery, all of Winston-Salem, N.C.; great-nieces and nephews, Sonya and Rusty Foraker and daughter Marissa of Huntington, Ind. and Shane and Breann McCoart and daughter Tayteum of Roanoke, Ind., Sherie and Brian Hughes of Waterford, Mich., Amanda and Andy Hummell and children Alexander and Robert of Raleigh, N.C. and Anna and Nathan Givens and children Eloise and Miller of Charlotte, N.C.; and special friends, Mary Kirk and Wanda Sharp, both of Princeton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Dr. David Dockery officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Bluefield, Va.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to First Baptist Church, 1116 Mercer Street, Princeton, WV 24740.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 11 at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
