Virginia "Jenny" Alice Laxton Jones, 90, of Covel, our sweet Jenny, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013. Born September 29, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Laxton and Laura Bell Cook Laxton.
Jenny was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a homemaker, member of the Garwood Church of God and the Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James Harold Jones Sr.; seven sisters, Flora Farley, Gracie Haines, Ora Burton, Ethel Beverly, Zetta Otey, Sally Shelton and Margaret Lusk; two brothers, Rufus "Bea" Laxton and Walker "Doc" Laxton.
Surviving Jenny is her loving family, including son, James H. Jones Jr. and wife, Margaret "Peg" Jones; daughter, Connie Jones Simpson and husband, Larry R. Simpson Sr.; grandson, Larry R. Simpson Jr. and wife, Becky; granddaughter, Christa Simpson Duckworth and husband, Brett. Jenny was also the very proud great-grandmother of two little girls, Ella and Ava Duckworth. Jenny is leaving behind many nieces, nephews and extended family that she loved and they loved her in return.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local food bank or church. This kind gesture would mean the world to our Jenny.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Charles McKinney Jr. and the Rev. Marvin Mills officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the service hour at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
