PINEVILLE —
Alice Jeannine "Nean" Parker Cook, 84, of Pineville, passed away January 3, 2013, at Hubbard Hospice House, following a short illness.
Born November 11, 1928, in West Braddock, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles Kimmel Parker and Alice Marie O'Neill Parker.
Jeannine was raised in Brownsville, Pa., and graduated from Brownsville High School in 1946. Afterward she moved to Chicago, Ill., where she worked for the next four years as a punch card operator for IBM. Following her parents move to Pineville, Jeannine met her future husband and spent the rest of her life as a homemaker, mother and caregiver to many. She loved to share her baking with family and friends. She was known for her kindness, generosity, quick wit and a love for puzzles of all kinds.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Tennis French "Shorty" Cook Sr., who passed on December 20, 2012; and by two brothers, James Siegel "Didge" Parker and Thomas Clayton "Bum" Parker.
Survivors include three sons, Tennis French "Pee Wee" Cook Jr. and his wife, Melody, of Rockview, David Cook and his wife, Kathy, of Hurricane, and John S. Cook of Frederick, Md.; one daughter, Nancy Jeanne Cook Tabor and her husband, Ralph, of Foster; five grandchildren, Stacey Cook Butcher and husband, Mack, Josh Cook and his wife, Letisha, Lauren CookChildress and her husband, Chris, Leslie Cook and Natalie Cook; and three great-grandchildren, Carmen Grace Lusk, Haylee Marie Cook and Harper Nicole Cook. Jeannine is also survived by brothers, Charles Francis "Sparky" Parker, Coulter Kimmel Parker of Pounding Mill, Va., Ronald Jarvis Parker of Glendale, Calif., Daniel Edward Parker of Glen Burnie, Md., and Patrick O'Neill Parker of Sebastian, Fla.; and two sisters, Rhoda Marie Parker Copley of Sebastian, Fla., and Edrogen Ruth "Chookie" Parker Benedetto of Severn, Md.
Following cremation, family will gather privately to spread her ashes. She requested no memorial service but asked for a party to be scheduled later, reflecting her strong desire to reunite family and celebrate life.
