NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. —
Lucia Theresa “Lou” Soucy Bowman, age 82, of the Witten's Mill community of North Tazewell, Va., died Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center in Bluefield, W.Va. She was born April 20, 1930 in Massachusetts and was a daughter of the late Lucien and Roseanne Soucy.
Lou was a retired office worker with General Electric; after retirement, she worked for thirteen years at the former Stone and Thomas in the Mercer Mall in Bluefield, W.Va. She was a member of the Tip Top United Methodist Church. She was, by every definition, a lady and she enjoyed reading and taking care of her loving husband of sixty years, Frank H. Bowman, who preceded her in death on Saturday, December 29, 2012. In life they were nearly always together, almost inseparable; now, in the warm and loving Presence of The Lord, they rest together in the glories of heaven, being serenaded by angels.
In addition to her parents, and her loving husband, she was preceded in death by several brothers and one sister.
Those left to cherish her memories include five sisters-in-law, Nancy Sawyers, Esther Carr, and Connie McGuire, all of North Tazewell, Va., Isabelle Soucy of Peabody, Mass., and Helen Soucy of Venice, Fla.; two brothers-in-law, Reece Bowman and wife, Norma of North Tazewell, Va. and Harry Bowman of Sandston, Va.; one nephew, Gary Soucy and wife, Barbara of Venice, Fla.; two nieces, Karen Webb of Venice, Fla. and Rose Marie Thomas of Escondido, Calif.; special friends, Patsy Bowman, Jack and Linda Melvin, Jack and Linda Lawson, Bill and Judy Hicks, Ronnie and Sophie Sparks, and Lucille Powers; her church family; several nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends also survive.
Funeral services for Lucia Theresa “Lou” Soucy Bowman will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with Pastor Jim Horn officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Pallbearers will be Ben Tom Bailey, Dale Bailey, Jack Zane Thompson, Frank Mitchell, Wade Sawyers, Keith Carr, Mike Sawyers and Jim Sawyers. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews, and special friends, Jack Thompson, Bob Pauley, and John Wimmer.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 (noon) - 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2013.
