NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. —
Freeling Alexander “Sadie” Watson Jr., age 78, of North Tazewell, Va., died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012 at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tenn. Born June 14, 1934 in Tazewell, Va., he was a son of the late Freeling A. Watson Sr. and Maggie Gillespie Watson.
Sadie was a lifelong resident of Tazewell, Va. and a retired maintenance worker in the water department for the Town of Tazewell. He loved to hunt and fish and to attend the street dances held in Tazewell. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Alexander Davis; two brothers, Ralph Watson and James Watson; and one step-son, Herbert Leon Boardwine.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 46 years, Margaret “Dottie” Wood Watson; one son, Tony Alexander Watson and wife Paige of Tazewell, Va.; two daughters, Rhonda Marie Williams and husband Arne of Wise, Va. and Laura Elizabeth Davis and husband Rex of Tazewell, Va.; four step-daughters, Betty Albano and husband Cecil of Dublin, Va., Kathy Douville and husband Russell and Mary Boardwine all of Asheville, N.C., and Beverly Sweet of Tazewell, Va.; seven grandchildren, Whitney Davis, Robert Alexander Dye, Luke Watson, Shelby Watson, Justin Arnold, Megan Arnold, and Ellie Williams; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with the Rev. Dennis McLemore and the Rev. Kenny Fields officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va.
Pallbearers are Cecil Johnson, Jim Harman, Lawrence “Popcorn” Sheppard, Randy Cochran, Tim Horn, Larry Whitt, and Jeff Murray. Honorary pallbearers are Woody Arnold, Alex Dye, and Luke Watson.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today (Friday), December 28, 2012.
