BOISSEVAIN, Va. —
Charlie Marrs Jr., age 74, of 336 Woodys Road (PO Box 273), Boissevain, Va., passed away on Monday, November 19, 2012 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
Born on July 7, 1938 in Brewsterdale, W.Va., he was a son of the late Charlie and Daisy Dye Marrs. In addition to his parents, Mr. Marrs was also preceded in death by a brother: Lee Marrs of New Castle, Del.
He was a member of the House of Prayer Holiness Church, where he also served as pastor for 40 years. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Marrs Family Singers for many years. He was a retired equipment operator for Tazewell County and also was employed by the Transfer Station.
Survivors include: Wife of 54 years: Roxie Bowman Marrs of the home; three sons: Eddie Marrs and fiancée Ora Dimaggio of Princeton, Danny Marrs and Julia of Conway, S.C., Donald Marrs of Boissevain, Va.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother: Johnny Marrs and Irene of Coeburn, Va.; one sister: Lola Myers and Wesley of Abbs Valley, Va.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with the Rev. Gary Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Friday from 12:00-3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
