ROCK, Va. —
Ersel Young, 84 years of age of Big Rock, Va., passed away Monday, November 5, 2012 in Williamson ARH Hospital, Williamson, Ky. Born September 7, 1928 in Buchanan County, Va., he was the son of the late George and Winnie Green Young. He was a devoted Christian and Ordane Minister, a member of the Harman Holiness Church and the UMWA. He enjoyed hunting, playing horseshoes and visiting the sick.
In addition to his parents, George and Winnie Green Young, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lela Ruth Ramey Young in 2006, daughter, Leona Gail Shryock; sisters, Ruby Dotson and Anna Young and a brother, Evans Young.
Survivors include his daughters, Lucrettia Estep and husband, Orville and Della Jackson and husband Dean, both of Hurley, Va.; son, Steve Young and wife Vickie of West Lafayette, OH.; sister, Dolly Prater and husband William of Plainfield, OH.; brother, Martin Young and wife Lucille of Lumberton, N.C.
He is also survived by three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a special nephew and caregiver, Kenneth Epling.
Funeral services for Ersel Young will be conducted at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel in Grundy, Va., Friday, November 9, 2012 at 12:00 noon, with the Reverends Josh Bowman, Daryl Wolford, Bobby Conn and Mike Casey officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Va.
Active pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, November 8, after 6:00 with evening services at 7:00 p.m.
The family of Ersel Young have entrusted the care of their loved one to Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home of Grundy, Va.
