PRINCETON —
Shirley Kay Loggins, 63, of the Unity Road, Princeton, died suddenly early Sunday morning, Nov. 4, 2012 at Carillon Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke Va. Born August 16, 1949, in Princeton, she was the daughter of Dorothy Gordon McPherson Hancock of Salem, Va. and the late Ray McPherson. Shirley was educated in Mercer County and a member of the Princeton Church of God. She will be fondly remembered as the Best Mom ever, a devoted wife and grandmother. She enjoyed going to church, working in her flower gardens, loved her four legged friends and sharing the word of God.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a son, Billy Joe “Boomer” Loggins, and a grandson, Joshua Trust Loggins.
Survivors include her husband, John E. Loggins; two children, John David Loggins and wife, Misty, Rachel Elizabeth Loggins and fiancé, Samuel Morris; one grandson, Jonathan Chandcelor Loggins; 12 siblings, Barbara “Patty” Holdren and husband, Lesley, Arnetta Allen and husband, Bobby, Linda Butcher and husband, Gary, Billy McPherson and wife, Tammy, Charles Ferguson and fiancée, Julia Herdman, Anthony Ferguson and wife, Sandy, Albert Riffe, Rebecca King, Kathy McPherson, Tammy Underwood and husband, Tim, Ricky McPherson and wife, Katrina, Richard McPherson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Fred Farley officiating. Burial will follow in the Loggins family cemetery on the Unity Road near Princeton. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
