WELCH —
June Elizabeth Hardy, age 81, of Stewart Street, Welch, W.Va., went to be with the Lord early Sunday morning (February 17, 2013) at Welch Community Hospital after a short illness. Born June 3, 1931 in Carswell, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Lula Quesenberry Turpin.
June was a long time member of the Carswell Community Church, Carswell, W.Va. She was a graduate of Northfork High School class of 1949, she worked for Grogan's Hardware in Kimball, W.Va., Hawley Coal in Northfork, W.Va., Buddy's Discount in Welch, W.Va., and retired from the Welch Unemployment Office, Welch, W.Va. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a resident of McDowell County all her life.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse O. Hardy in 1999; nine brothers and sisters, Lydia Turpin, Ruth Gallimore, Ocie Turpin, Griff Turpin, Thomas "Doc" Turpin, Douglas Turpin, James Turpin, Kenneth Turpin, and Margaret Cox.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis W. and Susan Hardy of Welch, W.Va.; two grandchildren Katherine and Chris Hardy of Welch, W.Va.; two sisters, Grace Patton of Newport News, Va. and Mattie “Curly" Mullins of Kimball, W.Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted today (Wednesday), February 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Widener Funeral Home Chapel, Northfork, W.Va. with the Rev. Douglas Williams, the Rev. Olen Butcher-Winfree, and the Rev. Kathy Stone officiating. Burial will follow at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, W.Va.
Friends called Tuesday night at the Widener Funeral Home, Northfork, from 6 to 8:00 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Connie Mullins, Fred Hardee, Anthony Gianato, Wayne Hicks, David Falin, and Fred Odum.
