STUTTGART, Germany —
Coach Steven A. Reed, 37 years young of Stuttgart, Germany, formerly of Tazewell, Va., won his battle on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at his home in Stuttgart, Germany with his family by his side. He is now cancer free. Steven was born February 17, 1975 to the union of Ivey Cecil-Jenkins and Nathan Jenkins. Steven received his education from Tazewell Schools, East Tennessee State University, and Emory & Henry College where he earned his degree in Elementary Education Health and Physical Education. Everyone knew him as Coach Reed. In 2009, Steven and his family moved to Stuttgart, Germany where they both taught school. Steven loved a challenge, the sky was the limit.
Many family members have preceded Steven in death.
Those left to cherish his memories, are his wife, Mairim Cobo-Reed; two daughters, Alexis and Lauren Reed of Stuttgart, Germany; two sons, Brandyn and Julian Reed both of Kingsport, Tenn.; one brother, Quentin Reed and wife, Chloe of Tazewell, Va.; one sister, Shanay McDonald and her children, Danasia and Da'Quan of Tazewell, Va.; grandmother, Garnette Cecil of North Tazewell, Va.; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2013 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, Va.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2013 (his birthday).
