PRINCETON — Helen Louise Cocus Via, 89, of 353 Wallingford Road in Princeton died Monday, March 18, 2013 at her residence. Born August 12, 1923 in Detroit, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Silla Joseph Cocus and Virginia Mae Caudill Cocus. Helen was retired from the Celanese Corporation in Pearisburg, Va., with forty three years service. She was a member of the Johnston Chapel Baptist Church in Princeton since 1962 and was formerly active in the DMAs.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Jefferson Via; two sisters, Margaret Cocus and Peggy Hayman; and seven brothers, Edward Cocus, Claude Cocus, Johnnie Cocus, James Cocus, Sammy Cocus, Jackie Cocus, and Tommy Cocus.

Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Sue Penoyar and her husband Bill of Falls Church, Va.; two grandchildren, Melanie J. Penoyar of Denver, Colo., and Natalie M. Penoyar of Falls Church, Va.; two sisters, Juanita Stuckey of Stephens City, Va., and Judy Black of Rehoboth, Del.; and numerous nieces and nephews including a special niece and nephew who cared for her, Claude Junior Cocus and Cindy L. Cocus. Helen will be especially missed by her friends and neighbors, Glenna Delung and family, Josephine Dunagan, Emory and Agnes Cantrell, Lura Elmore and Mary Jane Osborne.

 Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Jim Simmons officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Serving as pallbearers will be C.J. Cocus, Kevin Cocus, Mike Cocus, Brian Cocus, Steve Harvey, and Bobby Stuckey.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 22, 2013.
