POCAHONTAS, Va. —
James W. Fowler, 76, of Pocahontas, Va., passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center in Bluefield, W.Va. Born in Thorpe, W.Va., he was the son of the late Roy Fowler and Georgie Mitchem Fowler. He was retired from the U.S. Navy as Petty Officer First Class.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Jean Fowler; one brother, Bobby Fowler; one sister, Stella Brooks; and great-granddaughter, Brianna Dawn-Marie Lewis.
Survivors include, son Ricky Fowler (Dorothy) of Hudson, N.C.; daughter, Donna Lewis (Bobby) of Pocahontas, Va.; brothers, Darrell Fowler (Debbie) of Newton, N.C., Harold Fowler of Skygusty, W.Va. and Roy Fowler Jr. of Pipestem, W.Va.; sister, Goldie Hawkins of Green Valley, W.Va.; grandchildren, Patsy Beckett (Anthony) of Pocahontas, Va., Cindy Puckett (Joey) of Fort Lee, Va., Misty Wilson (Nick) of Granite Falls, N.C., Melissa Lewis (Ed Flick) Pocahontas, Va., Joy Fowler of Bluefield, W.Va., Bud Lewis (Tiffany Larson) of Pocahontas, Va. and Cammryn Vandyke; great-grandchildren, Tommy Puckett, Angel Sullivan, Jacob Puckett, Eli Puckett, Dru Wilson, Cooper Wilson, and Bobby Flick.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va. with the Dr. Darrell Hunley officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Bluewell, W.Va. Friends may call Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 from 12 to 1:00 p.m. at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va. Pallbearers will be Tommy Puckett, Nick Wilson, Bud Lewis, Don Lewis, Jimmy Lewis, Ricky Mitchem and Max Compton. Military rites will be conducted by Pocahontas Post No. 14 and VFW 9696 of Bluefield, Va.
