MONTCALM —
Walter Wayne Price Sr., age 73, of Montcalm, formerly of Coaldale and Elkhorn, went to be with the Lord Wednesday evening (Sept. 5, 2012) at Bluefield Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness. Born Oct. 11, 1938 in Switchback, he was the son of the late Robert "Rob" Price and Pauline Shaw Price.
He was affiliated with the Baptist faith, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served for four years. He was a retired miner from Eastern Associated Coal Co. Keystone No. 1 and last worked at the U.S. Steel Pinnacle Division in Wyoming County, and was a resident of Elkhorn the greater part of his life.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Patricia Christian Price on April 1, 2010; one son, Walter Wayne Price Jr.; three brothers, Billy Price, Herbert Price, and Roger Price; and one sister, Ivory Price.
He leaves to cherish his memory: One son, Thomas Price and wife Valerie of Bluewell,; two daughters, Theresa Cline and husband Patrick of Brushfork, Sherry Bridgeford and husband Mike of Princeton; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Louise Taylor and husband Jim of Elkhorn, Beatrice Conner and husband Rev. Kenneth Conner of Abingdon, Va., Roberta Hudler and husband Rev. Robert Hudler of Wytheville, Va., Rev. Nancy Buckland and husband Rev. Larry Buckland of Welch; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday (Sept. 10, 2012) at 1:00 p.m. at the Widener Funeral Home Chapel, Northfork with the Rev. Kenneth L. Conner officiating. Burial will follow at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton.
Friends may call Sunday night at the Widener Funeral Home, Northfork, from 6 to 8:00 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
